Storytelling workshops with Dr. Alastair K Daniel in PWSZ in Nysa

From 13 to 16 April 2015 International Cooperation Office and Institute of Modern Languages of the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa organized Storytelling workshops for the students of English studies and Business English. On this occasion our University had an honour and pleasure to host very special guests from the University of Winchester: Dr. Alastair K. Daniel, Senior Lecturer in education, math and drama teacher and storyteller, author of the book "Storytelling across the Primary Curriculum"; and the three of his students: Ms. Ellie Curtis, Ms. Zoe Banks and Mr. Malte Hoffmann.

The workshops were prepared and conducted by our guests and met with a great interest. During that time the students of the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa had a chance to learn about the art of Storytelling - the method of teaching by creating and telling various and interesting stories. Workshops with Dr. Alastair Daniel and his students showed the students of the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa how important for teaching are creativity, vivid imagination and contact with a listener. The students worked in groups creating together their own stories.

On the 14th of April Dr. Alastair Daniel and his students conducted Storytelling workshop for primary and middle school teachers as well. Earlier that week our guest visited Primary School No. 1 in Nysa and Diocese Lower Secondary School and Humanities Secondary School in Nysa, where they could participate in English language lessons, discuss teaching methods with the teachers and conduct short Storytelling workshops for the children.

The Storytelling workshops at the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa became an interesting and great time for both our guest and the participants. Meeting with Dr. Alastair K. Daniel, Ms. Ellie Curtis, Ms. Zoe Banks and Mr. Malte Hoffmann certainly gave the students a valuable experience and useful knowledge in the subject of Storytelling.
