POLISH DESK OF THE EUROINDIA CENTRE OPENED

Polish Desk of the EuroIndia Centre at University of Applied Sciences in Nysa started to operate. Official opening ceremony of the new-created Point took place on 17th October 2014 in Regional Centre of Knowledge and Innovative Technology Transfer. The event was a first day of EuroIndia Days in Nysa, held on 17-18th October 2014. On this occasion University of Applied Sciences in Nysa and Nysa Municipality had a pleasure and honour to welcome such eminent guests as Secretary General of the EuroIndia Centre Mr Michel Sabatier, Secretary General of Indo-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr Vishnu Mirpuri, President of Indo-European Education Foundation dr Pradeep Kumar and General Director of Indorama Ventures Poland Mr O. P. Mishra.

The event was successfully organized by University of Applied Sciences in Nysa in cooperation Nysa Municipality due to the 60th anniversary of Polish-Indian diplomatic relations. Our initiative received support and patronage from prestigious institutions cooperating with India: honorable patronage of the Embassy of India in Warsaw, the EuroIndia Centre in France, Indo-Polish Cultural Committee, Indo-Polish Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Indo-European Education Foundation as well as International Relations Foundation and ArtINDIAlog Foundation.

On the 17th of October 2014 Secretary General of the EuroIndia Centre Mr Michael Sabatier, Vice-Chancellor of University of Applied Sciences in Nysa prof. Zofia Wilimowska and Mayor of Nysa Mrs Jolanta Barska signed tripartite agreement of creating Polish Desk of the EuroIndia Centre at University. During the opening ceremony special guests and representatives of University of Applied Sciences in Nysa gave speeches concerning cooperation with India and Poland. The whole meeting was conducted and coordinated by Mrs Anna Opałka, MSc. Head of The External Relations Department and Institutional ERASMUS coordinator of University of Applied Sciences in Nysa.

The evening was also honoured by performance of Natarang Dance Group and a banquet for invited guests. Nysa's inhabitants and students had a chance to watch an Indian drama film, My Name Is Khan, directed by Karan Johar. Earlier that day, from 10 a.m. till 12:00 took place workshops for three thematic groups: entrepreneurs , school pupils and University students. During the meeting with Nysa's entrepreneurs Mr O. P. Mishra, Director of Indorama Ventures Poland, was talking about investments of his company in Włocławek. Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited is one of the largest vertically integrated polyester chain producers in the world and a leading global manufacturer of wool yarns.

On Saturday 18th October, at St. Jadwiga Bastion in Nysa was held an outdoor event, named "THE FACES OF INDIA". On the stage we could see Indian dance performances of Nimbooda Oriental Dance and Chameli Group as well as performances of local dance groups from AZS TANERO Nysa and children dance groups. Nysa's inhabitants and all guests had a chance to learn more about Indian culture by taking a part in such attractions as: photos exhibition, presentation of wearing sari, mehendi (henna) tatoos and oriental make-up, yoga, ayurvedic massage as well as tasting of Indian cuisine and tea. Crowning of the EuroIndia Days in Nysa was the concert of Michał Rudaś.

During EuroIndia Days in Nysa the prizes for students participating in artistic contest (classes 1-3, primary schools) and quiz about India (junior high schools) were presented as well. The first place in artistic contest went to Milena Szota from Primary School in Biała Nyska, the second place to Franciszek Terlecki from 3rd Primary School in Nysa and the third place to Natalia Palichleb from Non-public Primary School in Nysa. The winners in quiz about India was a group from 1st Junior High School in Nysa, the second place get students from Otmuchów and the third place went to group from 4th Junior High School in Nysa.

The event had been organized in collaboration and with financial support of institutions: Europejskie Forum Młodzieży, Inter Cultural Dialogue & Exchange - India/ Inter Cultural Youth Exchange, Klub Laurazja and Grupa Wydawnicza Helion S. A. / Wydawnictwo Bezdroża.
